MAKING WAY FOR THE NEW

June 9, 2021, we met with Trae Caton, Fire Chief of the Collins Chapel Fire Department to burn the old hotel to make way for our new bottling plant scheduled to break ground late summer.

The burning of the old hotel was advertised on the Collins Chapel website and through signage in the area as a defensive training exercise for several area volunteer departments within the county.  The controlled burn occurred on July 17th.

To avoid the possible contamination to our artesian spring and the environment, all shingles, plastic piping, and vinyl siding were removed.

To show our appreciation Alabama Mineral Springs, LLC provided lunch to all fire fighters.

THE JOURNEY OF OUR BOTTLING PLANT

Abandoned Resort/Hotel

First we had to remove 25 years of growth of wisteria vines, privet and holly trees.

Tested: No Asbestos

When we saw this we knew we had to check for asbestos.  There was no asbestos in either the spring house or in the old hotel.

The Artesian Spring

Constructed in the late 1930’s, this well head served the purpose for it’s time. We are monitoring the spring for one year. Afterwards it will be reconstructed in a sanitary stainless steel collection box.

After Cleanup Before The Burn

After the trees and vines were removed we had the shingles, windows, pvc pipe and other hazardous material removed.

Burning In Action

The Collins Chapel fire department came and performed a controlled burn for a defensive training exercise.

Gone!

After a full day of burning, the old hotel is leveled and ready for the next stage of the journey.
